"A Brief History"
These 18 holes were compact to say the least and in 1923 the Club acquired the lease on 31 acres of land on the riverside of Marston Lane. Local-born Open Champion Arthur Havers was consulted as to the design of the new holes which were much as we play them now. Indeed the resulting 18 holes, with a few minor alterations, would be very familiar to today’s golfer.

Veteran golfers at Eaton
Since its inception, Eaton Golf Club has tried to persuade the landlords to sell the freehold to the club. We eventually managed this in May 1997. Therefore, the dream of Jack Read had finally reached fruition. Eaton is now a members’ club in every sense; owned by and cherished by those who tread its fairways in the footsteps of those early pioneers. |
